The Russian Doll - an event processing pattern

We first developed this pattern in 2002 as part of a response to the 9/11 attacks in New York.

Padraig and I were both working for a major port operator. The firm joined a US Customs initiative called 'Safe & Secure Tradelanes' which focused on lowering the risk of a bomb being planted in a sea container. This led to the development of the tracking of things-in-things-in-things.. ad Infinitum: 'The Russian Doll' pattern. I expanded on this in a start-up (VI Agents) where we developed a commercial Event platform - I believe the first of it's kind in 2003.

Please take a few minutes to watch this video of the pattern using our Event Platform Demo app.
